Dreamer With a To-Do List with Beth Stedman

Beth Stedman leads the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce with a clear compass: faith, family, and community. A wife, mom, and proud grandmother of two, she calls herself “a dreamer with a to-do list”, someone who imagines what’s possible and then gets busy making it real.

Her passion for community service runs deep, shaped by a family that valued giving back and building connections. Sports fan credentials included: Eagles on Sundays, plus USC, Wofford, and Coastal Carolina. Beth’s energy is equal parts vision and follow-through, she dreams big but believes real impact happens through steady, consistent action.

Her path to the Hammock Coast runs through decades of community and economic development work. After early experience with Clemson University’s public service division in Marion County, Beth moved to Columbia to pursue further education and worked in the school district there for several years. Life took a sharp turn when her husband was injured in a serious car accident, prompting their family to move back home to be near relatives. That decision, she says, was a leap of faith that opened unexpected doors. On her first day back in town, she ran into a former colleague who told her that her old job had just reopened. “It was a God thing,” she recalls, a perfect example of how purpose often finds you when you least expect it.

Over time, Beth’s career evolved to blend leadership, education, and community-building. She returned to Clemson in economic development before joining Coastal Carolina University, where she directed women’s leadership initiatives, helping others find their own voice and influence. That passion for empowerment carried her to the Georgetown County Chamber, where she began as Director of Programs and, within eighteen months, rose to CEO. Today, she leads one of South Carolina’s most unique chambers, responsible not only for supporting business and economic growth but also managing two destination brands: South Carolina’s Hammock Coast and Pawleys.

Asked her favorite fictional character, she chose Jo March from Little Women, only with a passport and a checklist. A dreamer, doer, and community builder who believes in purpose and joy in equal measure. Beth’s story is proof that leadership doesn’t have to come from a boardroom, it can come from a deep belief in people, place, and possibility. And if you catch her on the Hammock Coast, she’ll remind you to take a breath, enjoy the view, and dance a little along the way.
